Lakers Host Wolves to Open Playoffs

Playoff basketball is finally here with Game 1 between the Lakers and the Timberwolves. As the Lakers have home court advantage, the first two games will be in Los Angeles. This will also be the Lakers’ first playoff series with Luka Dončić on the squad, and the new-look Lakers will be fascinating to see in that setting.

Playoff Luka

Luka Dončić has wreaked havoc on the Western Conference in the playoffs for years, and he is undoubtedly one of the league’s best playoff performers. Luka is lethal in a playoff setting and proved that last year against this exact opponent, and now he has propelled this team into championship contention alongside LeBron James. Luka – like LeBron – will hunt mismatches relentlessly and, with the supporting pieces the Lakers have offensively, they have all the tools needed to be a real offensive force in this postseason.

T-Wolves Challenge

What are the biggest challenges the Lakers will face against this Minnesota team? LA’s biggest weakness has been their rim protection and size in the paint. With Rudy Gobert and Naz Reid, the Timberwolves will have a real size advantage if they are able to use it. The Lakers defense will also have to account for Anthony Edwards’ lethal athleticism around the rim and improved jump shot. This series is displaying two contrasting styles up against each other and should be a fascinating matchup.
