The Lakers return home tonight to face the Utah Jazz in the NBA cup. LA is 1-0 in the NBA cup so far this season, and will be looking to continue their positive momentum with a win over Utah.
Dalton Knecht
Dalton Knecht had an outstanding performance in New Orleans against the Pelicans, pouring on 27 points and 7 rebounds in 37 minutes of action. His shooting from beyond the arc was critical for the Lakers on the road. The rookie has been playing extremely well as of late, and is a seamless fit next to Lebron James and Anthony Davis with his ability to space the floor. Knecht has been starting in the absence of Rui Hachimura, and he’s making a very strong case that he should remain in the first five even when Hachimura returns.
Stay Focused
The Lakers have strung together some quality wins on the way to a 9-4 start. Tonight they face the 3-10 Jazz, but despite their record Utah is an extremely well-coached team with quality players like Lauri Markkanen who can hurt the Lakers on any night. This is a game that LA should win – but they need to stay focused, because Utah certainly has the quality to cause an upset.
The Lakers have built positive momentum recently and it’s important to not let that go to waste. Can they take care of business, or will Utah come into Crypto and cause an upset? Tip-off is at 7:30 PM PST as the Lakers look to improve to 2-0 in this year’s NBA Cup.
