Luka’s Revenge Game?

Following a big win Saturday night in Denver, tonight the Lakers welcome the Dallas Mavericks to Crypto.com Arena. This is the first game between the two franchises since the blockbuster Luka Dončić-Anthony Davis trade stunned the NBA. Davis will not play tonight due to injury, but former Laker Max Christie will be available for the Mavericks.

Saturday night was a huge step in the right direction for the Lakers. LA managed to go on the road, against a team they have really struggled against over the last few years, and secure the win. The swarming Laker defense was arguably the standout of LA’s performance, holding Nikola Jokic to just 7 shots and 12 points. Now they have to build on the big win, starting tonight. It’s a tough schedule coming up for the Lakers, and while they have shown they can beat the leagues best teams, the next step is showing consistency.

Tonight will be the first time that Luka Dončić will play his former team, and there is no doubt he is out to prove a point. Since the trade, multiple people in the Mavericks organization have cited Dončić’s conditioning as the reason as to why Dallas decided to move on, and by all accounts Luka has been listening.

He looked like himself in Denver for the first time since the trade, and he was instrumental in the Laker win. Undoubtedly he will be on a mission to do the same tonight against the team that just traded him. Tip off is at 7PM PST, as LA kicks off their home stand against the Mavericks.
