It’s the second night of a back-to-back as the 2-0 Lakers take on the Sacramento Kings tonight in Los Angeles. Last night they were able to recover from a 22-point deficit to secure a victory over the Suns, with Anthony Davis having another monster performance as the centerpiece of the offense. They’ll be looking for more of the same from him tonight.
AD vs Sabonis
Last year AD struggled in his matchup against Domantas Sabonis. LA will be hoping that it will be a different story this season. AD has become the focal point on the offensive end for the Lakers, and they’ll will be hoping he will stay as aggressive as he’s been in the first two games.
There were times last year when AD went long stretches without seeing but he the new coaching staff has heavily emphasized him so far, and by staying aggressive he will give the Lakers their best chance of winning this game.
Mid Range Deadeyes
The Sacramento Kings added another extremely talented scorer with the offseason acquisition of DeMar DeRozan. Pairing him with De’Aaron Fox and Sabonis gives the Kings a number of threats who can hurt the Lakers in the mid range. Compounding that threat, Fox and DeRozan get to the foul line with regularity.
The Laker defense will need to be disciplined in order to not get themselves into foul trouble while remaining aware of the mid-range threats the Kings have. Otherwise it could be a long night ahead. Tip off is at 7:30 PM Pacific time as the Lakers look to make it three straight to start the season and pick up a valuable win over a division rival.
